6x6x2008

So last spring I painted this for an exhibit called 6x6x2008 at RoCo ( [link] ). It didn't post it right away initially because the artworks in the exhibit were to be displayed anonymously, but the exhibit is very long since over, so I can put it up now. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to go to the show, since it went up and came down while I was home in the summer, and the gallery is up by my school. But there's a nifty video on the site that shows the installation of the exhibit.

I think if I hadn't started this painting with the intent to give it away, I would have never been able to part with it. I'm really happy with the way it turned out and am really proud of it. You can't really tell after it scanned, but I used interference paint, so it shimmers in the light. Well, the original does, anyhow.

I'm really sad that I can't recall what I actually named this, because it took forever and I really liked what I finally came up with...I just don't think I wrote it down on anything that I kept. So unless I remember it, I'm keeping the name as "6x6x2008", which was the exhibit's name. I had a working title for it, but I don't really care for that anymore (it would be ironic if that's what I actually settled on for a name, but I'm pretty sure that's not it...).

For the bird, I used a bunch of 's bird stocks for reference.
